BAISD programs located at the Living and Learning Center - Arenac Campus include classrooms for students with moderate to severe cognitive impairments, and severe multiple impairments. Students that attend these programs are typically between 16 and 26 years of age. The program is designed to strengthen the educational, social, personal and daily life skills of students. The curriculum is structured to address each student's developmental level and includes functional academics, leisure/recreation, independent living and community-based experiences. All students work toward individualized goals as defined in their Individual Educational Plan (IEP.) As well as the classroom program, students may also receive the services of speech, physical or occupational therapist, school social workers and other ancillary staff. The goal is for the students to become participating members of the community to the best of their abilities.
