Welcome to Bay Arenac ISD Special Education

The Bay-Arenac Intermediate School District (BAISD) offers a variety of special education programs and services to eligible students.  A student is eligible for programs and/or services if they (1) are determined to be a student with a disability and (2) are in need of special education.  This determination is made after the parent has given consent for evaluation, the evaluation(s) are conducted, and an Individualized Education Program Team (IEPT) meeting is held.

Team members include the parent(s), school administration, relevant educational staff or service providers and, in many cases, the student.

These programs and services are provided either in the local school districts or in BAISD special education facilities. Classroom programs are provided by BAISD at the preschool, elementary, middle school, high school and post-secondary levels.  Local school districts also operate a variety of different special education programs of their own.
